The moment you worry about
You drop them off and your stomach tightens. What if another child grabs their toy, or pushes them off the bench, and your kid just looks down?
You have probably told them to “use your words.” That is hard advice for a 4 to 6 year old. When feelings get big, words get hard to find, and nobody ever showed you how to practice what to say.
Practice is the missing piece.
We run fire drills so nobody has to invent a plan in the moment. These cards do the same for tricky moments with other kids.

What your child practices
Every card ends with the same four options, so your child learns that they always have a choice.
Use calm, clear words to ask or explain.
Move away from a small problem when it feels safe.
Say what is not okay, and show it with a stop hand and a steady body.
Tell a trusted adult, and keep telling until someone helps.
If someone may hurt your child, threatens them, touches their private parts, or asks for a yucky secret, skip straight to Get Help. The Parent Guide shows you how.
Every card has three sides

A real situation, like waiting for a turn. Read it together and ask, “What could you do?”

The words and the move to try, a way to practice, and a short confidence tip.

What to ask, how to practice together, how to respond, and one follow-up for later in the day.

A note from a parent
Hi, I'm Ricardo, a parent of two little ones, ages 4 and 2.
A while ago my 4-year-old started coming home with things like “she said she's not my friend anymore” and “he took my book and didn't give it back.” I could see she was sad and confused, and I wanted her to have a plan, not just a hug.
So I started writing down common situations and what I'd want her to know. We practice them together, like a game.
These cards are the practice plan I made for my own family, now shared with yours.
